Alysia Amaya has got it all: the drive, the talent and the intelligence. We interviewed her about her goals, influences and she even gave some advice to young people out there who are trying to break into the business. Read on below to find out more.
Who was your biggest influence when you were a child and why?
I’d say my biggest influence when I was a child was my family, and they still are because I believe there’s nothing more valuable than the people you can count on and go through life with.
Who are your role models within the industry and why?
Zendaya. She is strong, yet graceful. And a great positive influence for everyone. Kendall Jenner is also another role model of mind because she deals with a really chaotic family, but she is very humble and she’s made a career for herself that she proudly works for. Her work is really inspiring.
What are some steps that you have taken to achieve both your personal and career goals?
Some steps that I have taken to achieve my goals personally would be that I just had to learn, and accept life as an individual, and as soon as I embraced being myself and being open minded, I started to live a better life. Some steps that I have taken to achieve my career goals would be that I just go for it. For a long time, I’ve known what I wanted and I put myself in the mindset of knowing what I wanted and learning how to do it. But I also learned to be patient. The toughest part is balancing the two.
What is the biggest struggle that you have faced on the journey to success and how did you overcome it?
Honestly, the biggest struggle I’ve faced is life. Just things out of my control that I have to face. I overcome it by staying focused on the bigger picture and not letting myself get defeated.
What are you most proud of accomplishing in your career so far?
I’m most proud of doing fashion shows! I have so much fun walking a runway, it’s a really awesome feeling.
What has been the hardest lesson that you have had to learn so far in your career?
The hardest lesson that I’ve had to learn is that the learning never stops and I need to constantly be preparing myself for what’s next. It teaches me good discipline, though.
What do you hope to have accomplished when you are at the height of your career?
I’d hope to accomplish inspiring many people! The more people I can connect with and positively affect is the goal. I believe in one love, world peace. Where is the love?
If you had any advice to give to young people just starting out in the industry what would it be?
My advice to young people would be to not grow up so fast. Understand yourself. Love yourself. Know what you stand for. Never give up on yourself or your dreams.
Anything next coming up in your career to look forward to?
